Broken Hallelujah

Do you ever feel blah? Maybe you feel sad? Or maybe some mornings you just wake up feeling down? Maybe you remember your dad who died 10 years ago? Maybe your mom? Or maybe you have a stomach ache or nagging headache that just brings you to a state of utter depression? What are you supposed to do? I mean, we are told in the Bible to be joyful but how in the world can we be joyful feeling like that?

Recently I felt that way and wondered why God would allow me to go down so badly. Well, He uses these times to teach us. But you may say, I feel like that every day! Well, don’t fret but ‘run to God’. Ask Him why you feel like this. Talk to Him. Many people don’t think to talk to God about everything in life but we need to ask for everything:

Matthew 21:22 (NASB) – “And all things you ask in prayer,

believing, you will receive.”

James 4:3 (NASB) – “You ask and do not receive, because you ask with

wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.”

So here’s what I did that day I awoke feeling ‘yuk!’

First, I went into my closet. You may say, WHAT? Well, I have a prayer closet. When I became a Christian I had young kids so I did what the Bible says and literally pushed my shoes aside, got a fluffy pillow, and fell on my face in my closet. I started writing down all my prayer requests and leaving them in the closet. The nice thing about that is ‘God keeps them’. He holds on to your requests so you don’t have to think about them. Seriously!!! Why worry about things you cannot control? Leave them at the feet of Jesus. He can do it but you can’t. Then you can leave your closet HAPPY!! JOYFUL!! But on this particular day I was down and literally blue all day! Well, in that case I visited my closet many times. I asked over and over and then I listened to the Bible. You know when you pray, you need to listen also. God speaks through His Word so make sure you listen and read it for your answer. Oh, I’ve gotten busy before and only prayed, but things eventually ‘fall apart’. You have to remember that Satan has a GOAL -TO DESTROY YOU!!!! Don’t forget, the power against Satan is God’s Word and Praises to God.

1 Peter 5:8 (NASB) – “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary,

the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion,

seeking someone to devour.”

Keep praying and praising God. Did you know that in heaven we will all be praising God? Get in the habit of praising God all the time even when you are down and blue. Listen to the words of this song on the link below. It will lift you up! Remember, even when your praise or hallelujah is broken, continue to give praise to God. He will take whatever we have. He created us in His image and He loves us continually and unconditionally. Stay joyful! You will be surprised how staying joyful will lift the broken spirits of others around you and therefore will lift you up too.
